Happy New Year! I’m back home and settled in my house in California. I have even recovered from jet lag and put away most of the miscellaneous items I brought back from the Faroe Islands. I am still waiting for the arrival of a box of books, and then I will be able to send out Christmas gifts to my family – a little late.
Here are a few photos from my last week in the Faroe Islands. Sorry they are so late. When I flew home in July, I missed the unveiling of the statue of Tróndur í Gøta in the nearby town of Gøta, but I finally got a few photos of the statue.
I left the Faroe Islands on 20 December, spent one night in Copenhagen, and finally arrived at my home in the early morning hours of 22 December. The plane was late because of snow at the Seattle airport, where I changed flights. Then it took me more than two hours to locate my luggage in the San Francisco airport.
I have been busy visiting family, celebrating Christmas on several different days in several different homes, but I forgot to take my camera out of my purse, so I only have a couple of photos.
My sister Erma, from Texas, came for a visit and stayed with me for several days. One afternoon we walked around the Miller/Knox Park on the edge of the San Francisco Bay, and this time I did remember to take my camera out of my purse. Comparing photos, I can see that we have trees here in California, not like the bare mountainsides in the Faroe Islands.
